Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself
The Science of Change
Dr. Joe Dispenza combines quantum physics, neuroscience, brain chemistry, and genetics to show us what is truly possible. The central premise is that your personality creates your personal reality. Therefore, to change your life, you must literally change who you are—your thoughts, behaviors, and emotions.
The "Big Three" Obstacles
To break the habit of being yourself, you must overcome the three elements that keep you trapped in the past:
1. ** The Environment:** Most people define their reality by their external world. If you let problems define how you feel, your environment is controlling your mind.
2. The Body: By thinking the same thoughts and feeling the same feelings daily, the body becomes "addicted" to these emotional states. The body becomes the mind, running on autopilot.
3. Time: Living in the past (memory) or stressing about the future (anticipation) prevents you from entering the Sweet Spot of the Present Moment, the only place where creation is possible.
Survival vs. Creation Mode
Dispenza distinguishes between living in Survival Mode (stress response, high-beta brain waves, contracting energy) and Creation Mode (coherent brain waves, expanding energy, open heart). The goal of the book is to guide the reader through a specific 4-week meditation process to move from the analytical mind into the subconscious, rewire neural pathways, and emotionally rehearse a new future until it manifests in the physical world.
